Biography
JaYne (Jane Fraser) is a soulful singer-songwriter whose music weaves the ancient echoes of Ireland’s rich musical heritage with the modern pulse of today’s world. A Limerick native, JaYne’s artistry is grounded in the timeless rhythms of her homeland, yet her voice and songs transcend borders, offering a unique sound that speaks to both the past and the present.
Though she initially pursued a career as a professional dancer, it was the call of song that eventually led her to her true path. At 18, she joined The Riverside Jazz & Swing Band, a 15-piece ensemble, where she first encountered the rich world of jazz and swing. It was here that JaYne’s love for music deepened, and she found herself drawn to the intricate melodies and storytelling tradition that would come to shape her own songwriting. Her musical journey has led her to study at the Royal Irish Academy of Performing Arts, where she completed a Higher Diploma in Performing Arts, further cultivating her connection to the stage and her audience. Then moving to London to further hone her craft, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Songwriting from the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. Her exceptional talent was soon recognised, and she graduated with an Overall Best—an early testament to her remarkable ability to craft songs that are both deeply personal and universally resonant.
JaYne’s music is a unique fusion of influences, her compositions draw deeply from the rich tradition of Irish storytelling, while incorporating the dynamic complexity of jazz and the emotive depth of soul. Whether performing solo or with her band, JaYne's live shows are intimate and immersive, inviting listeners into the heart of her songs—pieces that reflect the timeless struggles, joys, and beauty of the Irish spirit. Her debut album, Pass The Test, was honored as Album of the Week on Lyric FM and received an impressive 8-star review in Hotpress Magazine.
Over her career, JaYne has collaborated with renowned musicians and producers such as Gary Katz, Ben Wanders, Dora Gola, Abe Soare, and Paul Stanborough. Most recently, she partnered with U.S. jazz multi-instrumentalist and composer Benjamin Boone on his album The Ireland Sessions (Origin Records), contributing original songs and a poignant rendition of the beloved Irish ballad She Moved Through the Fair. This track has enjoyed regular airplay across the U.S. and helped the album garner international acclaim, including praise from Downbeat Magazine and other leading publications.
Currently, JaYne is working on a long-running project focused on vocal improvisation, exploring non-verbal vocalisation and mindful creative flow states. Under the mentorship of Paul Jost (U.S. multi-instrumentalist/vocalist) she continues to explore the deeper dimensions of vocal expression.
With a voice that’s as evocative as it is powerful, JaYne is a modern-day bard, weaving the stories of her life and heritage into music that is as captivating as it is unforgettable. Through her music, JaYne offers a window into a world where tradition meets innovation, where every note tells a story, and every lyric touches the heart.
